Call for 2016 WOW Events, June 22-28 / Appel de propositions d’activités : SAO 2015, 22-28 Juin

The Ottawa Local Immigration Partnership (OLIP) cordially invites you to contribute an event to the 2015 Welcoming Ottawa Week: June 22 – 28, 2015.

WOW is a week-long of events, activities, and celebration for Ottawa residents, old and new, and we want your organization to be part of the excitement. Plan an event that showcases your involvement with immigrants, celebrates what immigrants contribute to our community or creates new bonds between neighbours. WOW event categories include:

• Educational events: seminars, film /documentary screenings or book launch addressing integration of immigrants in community life.

• Engagement events: public forums, dialogues, celebrations or discussion events to promote successful integration of immigrants and refugees.

• Arts & entertainment events: arts/photo exhibits, dance/fashion shows or poetry/music sessions showcasing artistic and intellectual contribution of immigrants or reflecting on the human experience of migration.

• Formal events: local leaders and dignitaries discussing relevant topics to the Ottawa community related to the attraction, settlement and integration of immigrants.

• Sports events: sporting activities favored by immigrants and minority populations such as: soccer, cricket, Tai Chi, Yoga, etc.

Events included in the Welcoming Ottawa Week will benefit from common publicity and be featured on the WOW page of our OLIP website. Our collective activities, engagements and events are expected to create a real community BUZZ that will communicate Ottawa’s warm welcome to new immigrants and enhance the benefits of immigration for Ottawa.
