 Ever wonder how Ottawa works from the ground up and how citizens can make a difference?

What is the difference between a Master Plan, a Strategic Plan and an Official Plan?

What must a city do and what can’t it do? When does the municipal budget process begin and end?  And where do community associations fit in land use planning?

Citizens Academy’s Civics Boot Camp is back again this Spring from April 24 to May 22, 2014, blending online learning and in-person workshops, to help you understand the basics of how things work in Ottawa, at the neighbourhood level and within City Hall.

Everything you should know but didn’t know how to ask about:

  • Ottawa’s diverse geography and people
  • Who and how decisions are taken at City Hall
  • Municipal budgeting basics
  • Land use planning process
  • How to put it all into practice for an issue you care about

Civics Boot Camp is offered at no cost to participants — transportation and caregiving costs can be reimbursed for those who need it.

It’s not about having more politicians;
it’s about having a network of citizens with the knowledge and passion to create a better city!
