Priorities
OLIP partners at the Education Sector Table work to ensure immigrant students have equal opportunities to succeed. They focus on reducing barriers for students in low-income neighbourhoods with many immigrant families. Their goal is to help youth build the skills they need for higher education and good jobs.
Improve academic achievement for newcomers by addressing systemic inequities.
Build trust between schools and immigrant communities by understanding students’ experiences and challenges.
Increase immigrant parents’ involvement in school activities, learning,
and governance.
Develop neighbourhood partnership plans that align with Ministry of Education directives and school board goals.
