Partners & Funders
The program is a joint effort between the City of Ottawa and The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Ottawa. Each year, the City of Ottawa contributes $7,500 to support the TiECon Conference, where the awards are presented, highlighting the value of immigrant entrepreneurship.

Goals and Collaboration Approach
The Immigrant Entrepreneur Awards recognize the outstanding achievements of immigrants who have significantly contributed to Ottawa’s economy and entrepreneurial scene. The goal is to raise awareness and celebrate the successes of immigrant entrepreneurs, encouraging more participation and recognition.
Activities
Nominations are submitted online through an open call. A panel evaluates the submissions based on set criteria. Winners are announced at an annual awards ceremony in the fall, typically in October or November. The program aims to increase nominations and awareness each year.
Link to the Ottawa Immigration Strategy
The program supports the Ottawa Immigration Strategy by promoting and recognizing immigrant entrepreneurship, aligning with priority four of the ‘Economic Integration’ sector. This priority focuses on supporting and growing entrepreneurship among newcomers, contributing to a vibrant business community in Ottawa.
Timelines and Milestones
The latest awards ceremony was held on November 8th, 2024. The 2025 awards are planned for this fall. The City of Ottawa and TiE Ottawa are dedicated to supporting and promoting immigrant entrepreneurs.
Impact Areas and Client Outcomes
