Experiences of Disadvantaged African-Canadian Migrants in Ontario, Canada

This article analyzes the experiences and challenges of disadvantaged African Canadian migrants in Ontario. In this study, migrants talked about the difficulties of resettlement, making a living, health, and social well-being. They shared their personal stories about housing, health services, job issues, and access to social support.

The data come from transcribed stories gathered through one-on-one interviews with 26 African Canadian migrants, each lasting 1-2 hours, and three focus groups with 30 others. The 56 participants were recruited from Ottawa, Toronto, and Kitchener. The survey took place from March 2013 to October 2017.
