Radon is a serious environmental pollutant and the second leading cause of lung cancer in Canada. In Ottawa-Gatineau, building design, long winters, and location increase residents’ risk. It’s surprising that many residents are not aware of this risk and have taken few preventive actions. This study looks at how people perceive the health risks of radon and explores the factors that help or prevent them from taking preventive measures.
