Skilled Immigrant Women’s Career Trajectories During the Covid-19 Pandemic in Canada

Despite the need for skilled professionals in immigrant-receiving countries, many skilled migrants face deskilling and job loss. They often end up in low-skilled jobs that do not match their education and experience. Skilled immigrant women face even more challenges. They carry a heavier domestic burden, have interrupted careers, and experience gender segmentation in jobs and organizations. This study looks at how the COVID-19 pandemic affected skilled newcomer women’s job outcomes and work experiences.
