Ümit Mustafa Kiziltan

Ümit Mustafa Kiziltan’s career spans various sectors, including academia, civil society, Indigenous engagement, and public service. From 2006 to 2023, he was a Public Service executive, leading initiatives in multiculturalism, citizenship, settlement, and refugee health policies at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Notably, Ümit also served as the Director General for research, Head of Evaluation, and Chief Data Officer, emphasizing his dedication to evidence-based decision-making and accountability. Prior to his public service tenure, Ümit spent over a decade working for the Tl’azt’en Nation and later with the Assembly of First Nations in Ottawa, focusing on indigenous control of education and socio-economic community development. Presently, Ümit remains deeply committed to addressing global challenges to human rights, democracy, and the rule of law. Ümit is currently engaged in independent research, analysis, and evaluation in support of civil society organizations and the advancement of effective and accountable public policies.
