February 25, 2013

Nicole Olivier is a social counsellor and recreationist. She currently works as a development and delivery manager for the Cité des affaires at the Cité Collégiale in Ottawa. She has been working on community and social integration issues since the beginning of her career. Since 2005, at the Cité Collégiale, she has managed over 48,000 hours of French training for immigrants. She also has great experience with tools and approaches linked to employability. She favours the integration of adult education in the immigration process in order to help the adult immigrant reach his integration goals. Nicole Olivier has developed the first Enhanced Language Training (ELT) program in French and has also contributed to defining new training paths to serve French immigrants who wish to contribute to the francophone workplace.

Francophonie is important for Nicole Olivier and she is preoccupied by issues linked to its vitality in a minority environment. She views immigration as an opportunity for francophone communities to enhance the added value of the Canadian Francophonie. Immigrants can contribute to the growth of the francophone space, provided that the Francophone community stays dynamic and open to diversity.
