If you code for fun or for a living, if you work with newcomers or teach migration issues, if public policy is your thing or you write about immigration, grab a friend and join us for Hacking Migration in the Capital on Saturday, Nov. 2 & Sunday, Nov. 3. It’s fun, it’s creative and it’s for a good cause!

What’s it all about?

  • Hacking Migration in the Capital is a two-day collaborative blitz. We’re bringing diverse expertise together to brainstorm ways for technology to shed light on challenges in migration, whether it’s practical tools for new arrivals to Ottawa or research questions on international mobility.
  • We’re the only Canadian location in Americas Datafest, an international, simultaneous hackathon digging into the challenges of migration, including immigration, refugees and settlement. To learn more about Datafest and its more than 20 international locations, visit www.americas.datafest.net
  • We’re laying the groundwork for an exciting cross-sector collaboration right here in Ottawa and we’d love to have you. You’ll be brainstorming to use existing datasets in new and exciting ways. You’ll get to tackle interesting questions or create simple tools to help solve practical problems in the lives of newcomers. Most of all, you’ll contribute your skills to a diverse team working in a fun, creative atmosphere for a great cause.
  • You’ll be working in the beautiful Klondike Room of Adobe Canada, and there will be delicious food and great prizes.
  • For the ticket price of $10, you will get 2 lunches, one dinner, lots of snacks and a whole lot of energy, ideas and new contacts!
