This panel will address the issues connected to the settlement of LGBTQ refugees in Canada, as well as considerations for making Canada a safe haven for this newcomer community.

A representative from UNHCR will discuss the persecution of LGBTQ refugees and how it is linked to resettlement and a representative from Capital Rainbow Refuge will speak about the service provision aspect of supporting LGBTQ refugees upon settlement in Ottawa. A researcher with expertise in cultural challenges and persecution faced by the LGBTQ will form the third panelist.

The panel discussion will be followed by a question and answer session to engage the audience.

The panel will be moderated by a member of Refugees Welcome Ottawa and will take place at the Ottawa Public Library (TBC).
