The Book Project Collective and Immigrant Women Services Ottawa (IWSO) have come together to showcase brilliant immigrant women. Drawing on stories shared in a recently published collection titled, Resilience and Triumph: Immigrant Women Tell Their Stories, this presentation and discussion will highlight some of the challenges women face in the process of cultural adjustment and integration, and how they faced their fears of being seen as “different”. Contributors to the book have been invited to attend and some of them will read select passages from their stories.
This event will also feature beautiful paintings and other artwork produced by immigrant and refugee women who chose to tell their stories of resilience, hope and strength through art. The general public is invited and will have the opportunity to learn more about the services offered at Immigrant Women Services Ottawa (IWSO) and celebrate the unique talents of immigrant women.
Insights gleaned from this exhibit will be particularly timely and relevant for immigrant and refugee women’s communities and those working in settlement and resettlement issues.
