Spanish Speaking Residents’ Meeting – Ottawa Community Loan Fund (OCLF)

The Ottawa Community Loan Fund invites you to the first-ever OCLF – Latin Community Brainstorming Meeting on Tuesday, November 5 at 5:30 – 8 pm.

The Ottawa Community Loan Fund (OCLF) is a non-profit organization providing loans for business and professional development purposes. The organization was launched in the year 2000, and since then it has arranged over 230 business and professional development loans, exceeding $2,250,000.

Since 2012, the Ottawa Community Loan Fund (OCLF) has increased its focus on meeting the needs of the newcomers of Ottawa. This has been made possible by the six month pilot project funding from Ontario Centres of Excellence in 2012-2013, and new, longer-term funding from both Citizenship Immigration Canada (CIC) and Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), which both started in the Fall 2013.

Under the CIC and OTF funding the OCLF will be reaching out to the different immigrant communities, and at first the focus will be on the four major languages: French, Spanish, Arabic and Mandarin. In order to reach out to these communities, the OCLF will organize brainstorming meetings and focus groups with each language groups; and the first Spanish meeting will take place on November 5.

Who should attend: Spanish speakers who are passionate about helping the Latin community of Ottawa. Your contribution will shape the OCLF services for your community  – this is your opportunity to have an impact!

Date & Location: Tuesday, November 5 at 5.30 – 8 pm at 80 Aberdeen, 1st floor, Lawren Harris room. Please note customer parking is not available, but free and paid street parking is.

Other: The presentations will be in English, but discussion can be partly in Spanish. Light refreshments will be served.
