In-TAC’s First Career Expo 2013 for IT and Finance Professionals

January 10, 2014

The International Talent Acquisition Centre (In-TAC) hosted its first Career Expo for IT and finance professionals on November 19th, 2013. It was a resounding success with 500 job seekers in attendance and over 20 local employers looking to fill 300 available positions.

Mayor Jim Watson and Bruce Lazenby, President and CEO of Invest Ottawa, were on hand to welcome the crowd and launch In-TAC`s Career Expo, an official event of Ottawa`s Global Entrepreneurship Week.

In-TAC organizers pulled together a full slate of activities, including; free workshops throughout the day for job-seekers on how to perfect their ‘one minute pitch’, ‘meet and greet’ opportunities for IT and finance professionals with local businesses and employer panel presentations exploring new and emerging trends in the IT and finance sectors.

Morning panelists included: Rima Aristocrat, CEO, Willis College;  Serge Buy, CEO, National Association of Career Colleges;  Namir Anani, CEO, Information and Communications Technology Council and Ed Isaacs, Tech Director, Americas, Fortinet. The afternoon panelists included: Sebastien Lauzon, HR Manager, Macadamian, Janet J. Laroche, Recruiting Manager, Consumer & Community Banking, JP Morgan Chase, and Lori C. Watson, Partner, Consulting & Deals, Pricewaterhouse Coopers. Kimberley Cheeseman of CGA, our Career Expo sponsor, awarded a scholarship to an In-TAC client looking to recertify in Canada.

In-TAC’s partner employers who worked tirelessly all day interviewing and networking with motivated job seekers were impressed by the organization of the Expo and the talent they met.
