Hasmik Minasyan

Hasmik’s professional career has always been connected with social change, community development, policy and advocacy to improve the lives of those facing institutional barriers and inequalities. As a Policy and Advocacy Officer at Oxfam GB she has supported a movement by a civil society coalition to influence the Poverty Reduction Strategy of Armenia. Since moving to Canada in 2008 from her home-country Armenia, Hasmik has been closely involved in local immigration program planning. She stood at the roots of establishing the Local Immigration Partnership of Leeds and Grenville region as the person in charge of the immigration portfolio in the City of Brockville, and later at the United Way of Leeds and Grenville. Prior to that she coordinated the Welcoming Communities Initiative and the Community Immigrant Retention in Rural Ontario (CIRRO) project of the Ontario Ministry of Agricutlre, Food and Rural Affairs in the same region. Working for the advancement of opportunities for immigrant integration is both a professional and personal goal for Hasmik. She holds a Master’s degree in International Development Policy from Duke University, and a Diploma in Evaluation of Public Policies and Programs from Carleton University.
