Refreshed Municipal Immigration Strategy Continues to be Aligned with the Ottawa Immigration Strategy (OIS)
December 13, 2016After Ottawa City Council introduced its new priorities for 2015-18, City staff worked with the OLIP Secretariat and partners to review the first Municipal Immigration Strategy’s accomplishments—which included the design, development and implementation of nine collaborative actions with OLIP partners—as well as changes in the environment, and opportunities for continuity and forward planning. City Council approved the refreshed Municipal Immigration Strategy in April 2016. The Municipal Immigration Strategy, which remains aligned with the Ottawa Immigration Strategy, addresses three broad priorities:
Build internal capacity of the City of Ottawa for responding to immigrants’ needs; Collaborate and contribute to OLIP-led community planning, and participate in the work of RISFEO (Reseau de Soutien de l’Immigration Francophone de l’Est de l’Ontario); Support the settlement sector to integrate priority groups.
