The year 2020 showed the importance of having local public health experts who can monitor the situation and quickly adapt messaging and outreach. Ottawa Public Health was able to work with various City departments on the pandemic response. Its local knowledge and relationships helped the health unit use existing partnerships and quickly create new ones. This led to collaborations with partners and stakeholders from many sectors. As a result, Ottawa’s residents, businesses, and community organizations received the information and resources they needed to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission for themselves, their families, and their clients.
