In recognition of World Refugee Day, UNHCR Canada has released a report based on census data highlighting the contributions refugees make to Canada’s communities, workforce, and economy.

Many refugees arrive during their prime working years and contribute across sectors such as healthcare, skilled trades, manufacturing, and utilities. The report shows that median earnings increase by 31.5% within a decade of arrival, and more than 80% become Canadian citizens within the same period.

The findings highlight the skills, resilience, and long-term contributions refugees bring to communities across Canada. Service providers can use this information to support conversations about refugee settlement, inclusion, and belonging. Read more.
