The Equitable Leadership and Governance Toolkit for Leaders was commissioned by OLIP and developed by Strat-ology Consulting. It is grounded in the belief that organizational leaders and board members play a critical role in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
Most organizations operate within long-standing historical narratives that shape how they fulfill their mandates—through programs, processes, systems, and structures. These narratives are the result of decades of decision-making that often did not fully recognize the value of DEI as a driver of organizational effectiveness. This 22-chapter toolkit is designed to support leaders and boards as they work to transform their organizations into more equitable, inclusive, and diverse institutions.
The toolkit:
- Provides leaders and boards with best practices and practical pathways to foster more inclusive, diverse, and equitable organizations.
- Helps organizations plan and implement strategies to ensure leadership teams and boards are more representative and inclusive.
- Identifies core leadership competencies necessary to achieve meaningful and sustainable DEI outcomes.
- Supports leaders in setting, monitoring, and measuring DEI goals and progress.
OLIP recognizes that while many local organizations are experienced in advancing DEI at the service-delivery level, DEI-focused leadership and governance practices are often less developed. This toolkit addresses that gap by equipping leaders with the knowledge and tools needed to embed DEI at the highest levels of organizational decision-making.
