In this community presentation, the University of Ottawa’s Diversity and Equity Research Group(DERG),in collaboration with the Vanier Community Service Centre, will share the results of a recent study examining the social participation of Ottawa’s French-speaking immigrants in various Francophone community sites. This includes a focus on the motivation, experiences and benefits of participation in these sites, as well as the enablers and barriers to social engagement and the forms of social capital that can result from it. This presentation will be an opportunity to share and discuss the recommendations in the study’s final report. This presentation is open to the public and will be of particular interest to anyone identifying as Francophone and/or as an immigrant, as well as to front-line workers, representatives of community organizations and community leaders.
